For blog number four we are introducing one of our incredible teaching team. Julie teaches on a Saturday morning at Arts1 and works with a broad range of our street dancers. Here she tells us more about it!
Hi Ross, I teach Adult and Junior Street Dance at Arts1.
Amazing, can you tell us a little more about Adult Street?
Sure, adult Street is an energetic class for adults of all abilities who enjoy RnB music and want to learn funky easy to follow routines.
From being backstage at Cinematic, its clear this group get on so well, why do people do your class?
Mostly people want to have fun and learn some moves, they enjoy being part of a dance community (I often call them my dance crew ?). I know quite a few like to go for a coffee together after class, our adult class are a really friendly bunch.
Could you tell us what someone would expect during a normal class?
A typical class comprises of a warm up, a dance routine and a cool down/stretch.
Julie, how did you get into dance?
When I was 5 my mum took me along to a latin and ballroom dancing school and before long I was totally hooked on every genre of dance available, including disco, freestyle, Tap and modern. I still have the same enthusiasm and passion for dance as I did back then!

I would say don’t hold back, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!
