At Arts1 we have a team of vocal coaches and offer both 1-to-1 vocal coaching sessions and small group singing lessons for young people and adults. Our 1-to-1 singing lessons are the ideal way to improve your singing technique, build confidence in your singing voice, expand your repertoire or prepare for auditions.

Arts1 vocal coach James Grimsey taught Sam Barks prior to her performance on the BBC hit show I’d Do Anything. Sam is played Eponine in the movie version of Les Miserables after performing the role in the West-End.

Arts1 School of Performance: Samantha Barks Testimonial

Testimonial

I first met James in 2007 when I attended the arts educational school in Chiswick. I hadn’t had any vocal training before up until that point so it was all very new to me! James made it so easy for me to understand and the short time I was at the school I learnt lots from him! It was in a lesson with James where I first heard about the audition for I’d do anything to audition for the role of Nancy! James turned to me (mid-song!!) and told me I should audition because he thought I would be right for it…. So I did!! And it turned out to be the best advice I had ever had because doing the tv show provided me with so much experience and gave me the opportunity to work with the likes of Andrew Lloyd webber, idina Menzel and Liza minelli! A few years after taking part in “I’d do anything” and I have been lucky to have had some great jobs and fantastic experiences! I am currently rehearsing to play Nancy in the national tour of Oliver! Which is kind of ironic… all thanks to James!
