Arts1 School of Performance: Sixth Form Musical Theatre Course
01.

Dance Training

The dance training on the musical theatre course is streamed into five sets to be able to facilitate very high level dancers and also those students that do not have experience in dance but bring a potential and willingness to learn. Led by the incredible Leanne Hughes, students have the opportunity to develop their dance to the highest possible level. The styles of dance taught on the course include Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Commercial, Stage Acrobatics and Contemporary. Students have a weekly choreography class with the inspirational Adam Scott, when not working as one of the principal dancers for Can You Dance or as part of the team at Urdang, Adam develops Arts1 students in both technical skill and Artistry.

Musical Theatre students have the opportunity in their second year to study for the Estill Figure Proficiency examination a prestigious qualification that opens the door to further training in this specialist voice training system.

Arts1 School of Performance: Sixth Form Musical Theatre Course
03.

Acting Training

Arts1 Musical. Theatre students do not study ‘Musical Theatre Acting’ we study ACTING. It is a central skill of a Musical Theatre performer to create truth for audiences whether they are speaking, singing or dancing. The actor training at Arts1 is authentic and individual, this opens many doors for our students and Cretes the potential for Musical Theatre students to be able to diversify their skillset to a wide range of jobs and opportunities in the future. Led By Gemma Crooks, students are inspired to have a voice, an opinion and to work outside of their comfort zone to achieve their potential.

Student testimonials

"I would recommend Arts1 to anyone that is strongly considering a career in performing arts. Without the expert training from their teachers and staff I would not be where I am today. Being part of the course meant being part of a family, I always felt completely supported in and out of lessons throughout the course and that still continues now. I am currently training on the 1 year course at Fourth Monkey Actor Training company and will be starting a BA in Acting at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire this year."
