Arts1 is delighted to announce Kerry Buckby as the new Head of Dance in the Evening & Weekend School.
Kerry joins Arts1 at a particularly exciting time and will bring a wealth of knowledge, passion and care to each and every Arts1 student. With over 24 years of experience as a teacher and freelance choreographer, Kerry’s work in performing arts education has not gone unrecognised and as a result she currently holds her Fellowship with Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), the highest teaching qualification offered by the ISTD (passing with 100%), showing a depth and breadth of technical knowledge and artistry as well as a high standard of teaching. In 2022 and in 2023, Kerry also won the Elliot Clarke Commendation Award which acknowledged her consistent successes and excellence over the years and the commitment given to all her students.
Kerry’s passion for teaching and working with children has played a huge part in her career, holding Associate level teaching qualifications in Ballet and National, whilst also specialising in Modern, Jazz and Tap. Following her training at London Studio Centre, Kerry has gone on to work with many acclaimed directors and choreographers such as Stephen Mear and Bill Drysdale, as well as working on TV projects including The Brit Awards and appearing in various music videos.
On joining the Arts1 family, Kerry says: “A warm hello to everyone. I am so looking forward to meeting all of the Arts1 families and can’t wait to start working and getting to know your children in class. There is such a wonderful range of lessons to be involved in at Arts1, all being delivered to provide an environment that nurtures every child, ensuring that first and foremost they feel great, they develop confidence and have the highest quality of teaching as they prepare for exams within the graded framework. Whatever class your child takes part in they will leave with a smile. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.”
Arts1 Principal Rebecca Carrington said: “I am over the moon to have Kerry join the team. Kerry has been working with our sixth form students since September and I am thrilled that she has now accepted this key role within the Arts1 team. Kerry is an expert teacher with a consistent track record of success and I know how dedicated she is to her students. We are lucky to have her and I have no doubt that she will be well loved by all that work with her.”
Kerry commences her new role with Arts1 in September 2023.
