2023 Sixth Form graduate Aisha Glasgow has today been awarded the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation scholarship at London drama school Urdang, where she will begin her studies on the BA (Hons) Dance course come September.
The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation scholarship is awarded to one student per year on the Professional Dance and Musical Theatre course. A small number of applicants with the highest scores in acting and singing on their entry auditions are called back to audition for the coveted scholarship. The scholarship covers all course fees and recipients will also be entitled to one year’s free membership of Spotlight when joining the main Spotlight directory.
Aisha has been on the Arts1 BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Dance for the past 2 years, headed up by course leader Leanne Hughes. Aisha on receiving the news said: “Arts1 has given me the most amazing opportunities and the support to help get me where I am today, receiving this incredible scholarship. I’m forever grateful for the encouragement I’ve received and will always appreciate the safe environment they created. I’m unbelievably happy and grateful to be awarded the Andrew Lloyd Webber Scholarship and cannot wait to see what the future brings.”
Arts1’s Head of Vocational Training James Grimsey praises Aisha’s work ethic: “Aisha deserves every success that comes her way and we are over the moon that she has been awarded the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation scholarship at Urdang Academy. Aisha has demonstrated incredible versatility throughout her training as she has performed as a vocalist and dancer in several high profile pieces for Arts1, including as a principal dancer for Adam Scott’s piece ‘Celestial’ at Move it 2023. We can’t wait to see what is next for Aisha in her training and future career.”
The BA (Hons) Professional Dance and Musical Theatre course at Urdang is a 3 year course, giving students triple threat training in singing, acting and dancing before going on to work professionally in places such as the West End, National Tours and Cruises.
