Rebecca Carrington

Rebecca trained in professional Musical Theatre at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts where she was awarded both an MA and a Post Graduate Diploma. In addition Rebecca holds a P.G.C.E. in Post-16 education from the University of Greenwich and a First Class BA Honours degree in Modern Drama Studies and English from Brunel University. She spends most of her time dedicated to the management and running of Arts1 but still manages to squeeze in performance work and occasional freelance theatre teaching & coaching.

Achievements

As a teacher and facilitator Rebecca’s experience includes two years as the course leader for Musical Theatre at West Herts College where work she also designed and delivered modules in voice for the higher education course validated by the University of Hertfordshire. As a freelancer Rebecca has taught on the further and higher education courses in Acting & Musical Theatre at Uxbridge College, North Herts College and Northampton College and worked for numerous schools and independent companies including Bigfoot Theatre Company, Stagecoach Theatre Arts and Theatretrain, for whom she has also managed two successful centres in North London. She is also one of a team of audition panellists for the BA & Post-Graduate Acting courses at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, representing the voice department.

Beyond experience of teaching theatre, Rebecca also spent a year after training, working for Diverse Production Ltd, an award winning independent documentaries company where, amongst other things she was involved with the production of “Musicality” for Channel 4.

As a performer credits include being a production vocalist on-board Cunard’s Queen Victoria for Belinda King Productions, The Wicked Witch in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (The Hawthorne Theatre, Campus West 2009 & DG One 2012), Jen in Familial Ties (Film Short) Lady Eleanor Butler in The Celebrated Virgins (Film Short) and Miss Brown in the Explorers (TV) as well as extensive band work as a lead vocalist, voiceover and a commercial for Map Films.

Rebecca has completed Levels 1 and 2 of the Estill Voice Training System and regularly attends training courses and seminars relevant to her ongoing responsibilities as Principal of Arts1.

Rebecca works closely with those students at Arts1 who are preparing for Drama School and University and produces all Arts1 shows and external events.
