Kerry Ellis trained at Laine Theatre Arts. She most recently played ‘Fantine’ in Boublil and Schönberg’s musical Les Misérables at the Queen’s Theatre and ‘Ellen’ in the national tour of Miss Saigon. Kerry created the role of ‘Meat’ in the original London cast of the Queen/Ben Elton musical We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre and took part in the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace. In 2001, Kerry understudied the role of ‘Eliza Dolittle’ in Trevor Nunn’s production of Lerner & Loewe’s My Fair Lady at the National Theatre and Drury Lane, playing the role opposite Jonathan Pryce on many occasions. Other credits include the national tour of Magic of the Musicals and ‘Mary’ in Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre. Recent workshops include Way Beyond Blue, written by Imogen Stubbs and directed by Trevor Nunn, and the title role in Helen of Troy, directed by Gary Griffin. Arts1 School of Performance is pleased to announce Matthew White as their Patron. Matthew is currently the director of 'Little Shop of Horrors' the hit musical currently playing in the West-End, he also recently appeared in several episodes of 'Doctor Who' on BBC1 Matthew has worked extensively in Musical Theatre in roles that include - Younger Brother in 'Ragtime' (for which he recieved an Olivier nomination), Mary Sunshine in 'Chicago', Feuilly in 'Les Miserables' and Monsieur Reyer in 'Phantom of the Opera'. His recordings include the British cast albums of 'Billy Elliott', Stephen Sondheim's 'Passion' and the 10th anniversary recording of 'Les Miserables'. Matthew has directed musicals in the West End and internationally, his recent credits include - The Last 5 Years (Menier Chocolate Factory), Rent (English Theatre Frankfurt) and The Last Session (Hackney Empire). As an Author his publications include "Far From The Madding Crowd" (Samuel French), Staging a Musical (A and C Black) and musical versions of Roald Dahl's Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Riding Hood (Bloomsbury) Matthew is delighted to be joining Arts1 and working with it's creative team to offer the highest standard of training for tommorow's top performers. |
